Can men's suit jackets be let out?
This is a question that people ask all the time. Can men's suit jackets be let out? There are a number of reasons why you would need the jacket to be let out. You may have put on a couple of pounds or perhaps you started weight training and put on some muscle where there wasn't much before. Whether you can let a suit jacket out depends on the suit of course. Most mass produced men's suits have seams that on the inside will lay flat with a bit of extra material. It is this bit of material that only a tailor will be able to feel or open through the lining to see if the jacket can be let out. Usually, if it can be let out, it will be a minimal amount. Less than an inch. If that is the case, you will need a larger suit size. It also, is extremely time-consuming ie. expensive to have to open all those seams and a re-sew. Plush, the clean appearance will more than likely be gone because you may just see where the old seams were sewn from the needle marks. You don't that. You are just better off getting a new suit.
